A gluten-free kitchen essential that is such a seemingly insignificant product, but ideal for easy and inexpensive tagging of kitchen items is the Sharpie pen. For a family who must have two tubs of butter, separate peanut butter containers, as well as many other segregated items, a Sharpie is the perfect solution to have on hand for marking. Pre-printed tags are available, but grabbing a Sharpie to mark what is mostly consumable product containers works well. For items such as gluten-free oats, a blank sticker on a storage container is a great way to label too.

Good advice! I label everything. My kitchen essential item is a separate cutting board and plates. Especially with kids around and preparing both gluten and gluten free foods, extra preparation is much better than being accidentally ‘glutened’.

Thanks for the kind words! I have a ton of cutting boards and rarely use one that is sitting out–even if it looks perfectly clean. We write with a Sharpie on everything from peanut butter to mayonnaise.
